Our Working Agreements

You can get involved by joining PEDP and contribute to our data preservation, tool development, and outreach efforts. PEDP’s strength grows from volunteers who bring experiences from a variety of backgrounds including but not limited to data preservation, climate change resilience, environmental activism, social justice, GIS tools, open source software development, and fundraising. Here are the steps to join as a volunteer:

  1. Fill out our short Get Involved form and we’ll email you about upcoming PEDP orientation sessions

  2. Attend a one hour PEDP orientation

  3. Pick at least one PEDP workgroup(s) to join, such as:

    • Data Preservation, where you could prioritize and archive datasets, or help run datathons

    • Tool Development, where you could help replicate, improve, or develop software tools

    • Outreach & Communications, where you could manage web, email, and social media communications with outside groups

  4. Join our online community and communication tools

  5. Read your workgroup’s onboarding materials

  6. Attend our All Hands meeting to get an updated picture of our projects across PEDP

  7. Join our working group meetings or set up a call with your workgroup coordinator to get help figuring out how you can plug in and start working on tasks
